Cycle II · Edict 3305–3306
Declaration of war
The accidental killing of the young Dragonkin scholar Thalor Stonehide by an Aerie Folk guard ignited Velorax’s long resentment of Skyreach. Rumours spread by Voltanis’s agents sharpened that anger, and Velorax chose war rather than negotiation.
In Edict 3306 he led an elite Dragonkin aerial force against Skyreach and initially pressed the city’s outer defences with superior physical and magical strength.
Cycle II · Edict 3307
The Shade Weaver ambush
During another approach to Skyreach, Velorax and his army entered a cliff canyon where the Shade Weavers were waiting. Their Umbral Veil attacks shattered his scales, critically wounded him and nearly destroyed his entire aerial force.
His personal guard carried him out of the ambush and back to Draconia, but the void damage had struck too deeply for Dragonkin healing to restore him.
Cycle II · Edict 3308
Death and succession
Velorax died from his wounds in Edict 3308. Before his death he passed the lordship to his brother, Karthus Firewind, and charged him to avenge the Dragonkin against both the Aerie Folk and the Shade Weavers.
His death deepened the Dragonkin’s sense of humiliation and helped turn the surviving faction toward an even more violent cycle of revenge.
