Dwarves are one of Aethelgard’s non-magical mortal peoples. Their strength lies not in spellcraft, but in resilience, meticulous planning, mining, engineering and craftsmanship. Dwarven builders are renowned for formidable fortifications and exceptional metalwork. Their familiarity with stone and subterranean construction is practical rather than arcane: a tradition of reading material, structure and pressure through experience, calculation and craft.
That practical identity is also bound to a strong sense of independence. Dwarven communities repeatedly preserve their autonomy through the same traditions that make their works endure. Across Aethelgard, Dwarven influence is therefore measured as much through what they build, reinforce and forge as through armies or political power.
