Historical account
The first permanent city
As populations expanded, many peoples were drawn toward the fertile western coast. Between Edicts 101 and 300, Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, Elves, Hydrael, Serpentkin, Aerie Folk, and others contributed labour, craft, knowledge, defence, and resource gathering to a shared settlement. Veridia became Aethelgard’s first permanent great city and the centre of the land thereafter known as the Veridian Shore.
Unity with a fault line
The Chroniclers brought architectural foresight and early wards, while both Aeterna and Khaotari influence could be felt in the city’s developing form. Veridia therefore began as an extraordinary experiment in cooperation across species and magical tiers. Yet the same structures that made organised civilisation possible also introduced the first pressures of hierarchy and privilege beneath the city’s outward peace.
Historical significance
What changed here
Veridia proves that Aethelgard’s peoples can build together—and establishes the civic and magical tensions that will eventually make the First City the centre of a much larger crisis.
