Reinforcing Concordia

When the threat from Voltanis became impossible to ignore, Elara left Arcanum with an elite force of Archmages and reinforced Concordia. There she became one of the leading magical commanders of the Conclave of Order’s Light.

The rift with Kaelen

Elara favoured a patient defensive strategy, while her heir and student Kaelen Valerius wanted more aggressive action. Viridar, hidden behind the identity of Sylvia Nightshade, fed that frustration and encouraged him to see Elara’s caution as weakness.

Elara sensed the dangerous ambition gathering around Kaelen and suspended plans to hand him greater authority. That decision turned the political rift into a murder plot.

Assassination and disappearance

During a field-training mission near the delta, Kaelen manoeuvred Elara away from the rest of the group. From concealment, Sylvia—Viridar in disguise—struck with Tier Five life magic and tore away Elara’s life force.

Elara vanished, leaving only traces of distorted magic. Her apparent disappearance threw Concordia into panic, created a power vacuum for Kaelen and accelerated the city’s collapse.
