Living natural forces
Elementals are a true species of primordial beings and one of Aethelgard’s Twelve Mortal Civilisations. Their relationship with magic is fundamentally different from that of a Magician or Elf: an Elemental does not merely manipulate fire, water, earth or air, but manifests as that natural force. Their innate domain is Second Tier Primordial Magic, allowing them to command their own element on a scale far beyond ordinary Nature’s Craft.
Because their bodies and identities are bound to elemental essence, they can endure environments and physical threats that would destroy ordinary mortals. The oldest and greatest examples are the four Primordial Elementals described as regional anchors of the world’s raw power. Even so, the wider Elemental species remains distinct from those four singular ancient beings.
